Those of you that already have seen Simon Sinek’s ‘Start with Why‘ concept are probably already utilising at least some part of his thoughts and method. He puts a strong case forward for starting with the ‘why’ instead of the ‘what’ when marketing a business, brand or product. After listening to Simon’s thoughts on this it’s hard to argue, for the more you think about the concept and apply it to the brands that you admire, it all starts to make sense.

The marketing landscape as we know is forever changing, but one thing is certain; with increasing competition in every market, it is becoming ever more difficult to convince audiences that you should be the brand they put their trust in. People today are more savvy than ever and their attention is spread across a multitude of devices, hundreds of social networks. They have tools that prevent them from seeing what you want them to, their’s pop up blockers, email filters, on demand services, post filters the list goes on. All of this innovation ultimately effects how customers interact with a brand, and it’s safe to say that the traditional forms of advertising and marketing are dying fast.

So what do you do?  In one word, adapt. A brand must become smarter, more authentic, more inspirational and you must think past the traditional billboard to the power of content. You must influence your audience through content they like, they relate to and they want to consume. Flashing images and quirky gimmicks are on the decline, making way for more valuable online experiences and rich content.

Many questions arise from these thoughts for our clients:
